Want to run a vent hard. Vapor canister failure question jump to latest 2k views 14 replies 9 participants last post by lou o Dec 19, 2023 heavyg discussion starter In the past i rebuilt my canister but recently the problem popped back up and once i experience a problem 3 times i change directions and look for a final fix
The carbon canister function is an adsorptive one, not an absorbtive one The fuel vapor adheres to the surface of the activated carbon, and is not absorbed at all The moment the purge valve opens, the fuel vapor is released back into the motor The carbon does not degrade and a carbon canister will probably last the life of the vehicle.
Pressure in charcoal canister does not drop during purge control 2 trip detection logic
Did my research on the forum and sounded like a classic case of needing a new evap canister Ordered it and installed it today along with a new vapor canister valve Didnβt find any loose charcoal in the hoses and the old evap canister didnβt rattle with loose charcoal Went to test the install at the gas station, had the same gas fill issues.
The main cause of the canister going bad is the charcoal inside getting fuel soaked, this causes the charcoal to break apart and crumble When the pieces get small enough they can get past the screen that is supposed to keep the charcoal in the canister.
